September 2016 Minutes



Minutes of the Meeting of the Parish Council held on Wednesday 14th September 2016 at 8.00 pm in Godmersham & Crundale Village Hall

Present            :     Cllrs Spencer (in the Chair), Grayson, Gee, & Fisher

In attendance:     Mr. Eaton, Clerk to the Council

Action by:

1 Apologies for absence

Apologies were received from Cllr Taylor

2 Declarations of Councillors Interests

There were no declarations of Cllrs interest regarding items on the agenda

3 To approve the Minutes of the last Meeting

The Minutes of the Meetings held on 14th June &13th July 2016 were approved and signed

4 Matters Arising

Call Flow – Cllr Fisher reported that the service was now generally operating well and no problems to report

Speed sign update – the speed sign was operating well. Clerk to chase Kent Highways about possible sign on the A28 on the approach from Canterbury. It was also agreed email to be sent to KCC Cllr Wickham saying very pleased with sign and thanking him


Cllr Gee reported that the new container for the Village Hall would be delivered tomorrow (15th September) at 7am

5 To discuss matters of public concern

Cllr Gee instigated a discussion about the poor state of the two bus shelters and circulated photos illustrating this


Action By:

It was agreed to ask Ben Palmer of Godmersham Estate to repair the fence behind the bus stop on the approach to Godmersham from Ashford.


It was also agreed to try and find a handyman to regularly clean and maintain the bus stops probably twice a year. This would include mending the benches as required, disinfecting and sweeping, removing ivy etc) Cllr Grayson kindly offered to look for someone suitable

It was also agreed to email ABC Cllr Dehnel and Stagecoach to ask about the possibility of installing some internal lighting possibly run off the street light nearby


6 To discuss Planning & Enforcement Matters

16/01233 – detached two storey outbuilding replacing garage

Letter to be sent to ABC objecting as proposed development was too big and imposing and out of proportion

It was agreed to produce a list of useful telephone numbers for people moving into the Parish – Church, Parish magazine, Cllrs details, Village Hall, WI. Gardeners Club, Call Flow, Stagecoach, PCSO, Community Warden, bin day (Thursday), Doctors, Dentist etc. Clerk to draft a list and circulate


It was noted that the road bridge near the Church had recently been struck on the Canterbury bound carriageway by a lorry – Clerk to report to Kent Highways


The Clerk was asked to update the Cllrs email addresses on the website


10 Date of next meeting

It was agreed that the next Meeting would be held on 9th November at 8.00 pm in the Godmersham & Crundale Village Hall

There being no other business the Meeting closed at 9.20pm
